boobies boobies

i'm sorry if you're offended by that title. but this is just what happens in your first grade classroom. which is why i sometimes feel like my "career" is a joke.  seriously?

exhibit a:
"this is our classroom library. if you pick a book that has a no. 1 on it, then you return it to the bucket that has a number..."
"one!"
"that's right. this book has a no.2...." lalala, we went through every single bucket--1, 2, 3, H {holiday}, A {animal}, green squares {chapter books}, and NF {non-fiction}. which is when i said, "there are books about shapes, baseball, soccer, and bones."
"boobies. boobies."
that's all i could hear. this one little boy that *really* struggles to sit still, follow directions, keep his hands and feet to himself, and not burp in his classmates' face is sitting there turning to the kids around him and saying boobies. so i told him to stop and we moved on.

exhibit b:
the kids were working on a color by numbers {aka, can you follow directions?} and then i hear in an awesome froggish type voice, "here's my number, call me maybe!" and i cannot stand that song, but it was pretty funny when this boy kept going on and on.

exhibit c:
i have another cute little boy. i think he will be this year's sweet crazy boy {which, side note, gives me the LARGEST bear hugs he can for his tiny body every time i see him. i love it.} anyway, this boy just sits there and talks to the girl next to him, or the boy in front of him, or the desk, or air, or anything that will "listen." it is so funny just to watch him. and then i have to go and be a dream squasher and say, "go put some headphones on."
"why?"
"so you will work better."
but guys, seriously, this kid is so cute and wears these sweet black and neon green nike kicks everyday.

life is great.
