bake it: smacaroons

anyone knows me knows that i usually steer clear of the dessert table. and i do an a+ good job at it. unless it's a major holiday. except last year i think i had a total of one dessert on christmas. and it was a mini-pie thing made in a cupcake pan, so i actually did good for once.
2 reasons for this:
1) it ain't doin' no good for my body. and i don't feel so hot afterward.
2) i really just don't like all of the things that i usually eat. some i do. but i don't enjoy most things. and why would i eat something i don't 100% enjoy only to feel sick / headachey afterward.
that said: i still like fro yo. that's like the except to the "major holiday" guideline i seem to follow. but lately, even that has not been reaping too many great benefits in my gut. i'll stop there.

so one of my fab student's fab mom made me these smacaroons on my last day of school. i know i can eat anything she makes for me because she is super healthy and we chat a lot about healthy foods--raw, unprocessed, sugar-free, sprouting, green smoothies, juicing, etc.
mine. sans-chocolate chips because we didn't have any {which i was secretly totally fine with}

i made some of our own today. i also checked out the website that she got the recipe from. WOW.  go to it HERE and read the brief "about" section. then choose a recipe and make it. so good. this girl uses absolutely no sugar. not even raw honey or stevia. okay, okay, i cheated and drizzled some honey on top of the cookies and added a few drops of stevia to these smacaroons, but still it is the good sweet. {side note, it's windy outside.}

anyway. make 'em. try 'em. for you sugar addicts out there...these are great ways to ween yourself down on the sugar. and you can't really feel guilty eating 4 of these smacaroons because they're made with raw almonds, bananas, unsweetened shredded coconut, chia seeds {hello uber super food}, and a little coconut oil. you can eat these cookies for breakfast. they're that healthy for you. and i'm sure my husband will.
