what is stress?
when you have way too much to do and you don't get to go to the gym, which puts more stress on you. and when your class is so bad and you have one little defiant, in-your-face-teacher boy that has to go to skill building (where the naughty kids go!!) every day and kids mooning people at recess and kids drawing pictures on their end-of-level test and kids "breaking" their arms, thus "not being able to write" and kids that won't listen to directions for the life of them and kids that are...yeah, can we say 2 more weeks?!?! actually, 10 school days left for me, minus tomorrow because i am doing reading benchmarks so technically a sub will be teaching my class and not me. HAL-LE-LU-JAH!
(and i should be making my sub plans, or making decorations for em's shower, or getting rid of my headache, or at the gym, but i just needed a 10 minute break. hence the blogging.)
a bunch of funny things my kids have said in the past week
1) at our extra recess yesterday / library time is done for the year and i needed a break, i had 6 or 7 kids pretending they were puppies. and they kept crawling up to me and "begging" for a treat, so i "tossed" them a "treat". #suchagoodteacher
2) during the same recess yesterday, i had a little boy [the same one that said, "you're hot" at the beginning of the year and tells me he loves me everyday and hugs me after school]come up and say, "they're in love!" in reference to these 2 cuties in my class. to which the girl said, "No! my parents were in love when they were 5!! and they kept on loving each other and then they got married!!" then the 2 "in love" ran off being puppies and the boy sighs and says, "yeah...i need a girlfriend."
3) when we were walking back to the classroom after this recess, my sweet crazy boy says, "ALL THE DOGS! THROW YOUR SPIRIT PUPS OUT OF YOUR BODIES!" i just told him he can't be a dog in the classroom.
4) this morning, my sweet crazy boy [from above] comes up to me and says, "yesterday, at church, an army man and his kids, and these kids were in the army, and ... and... [telling about these army peeps] and... i also like your yellow shirt." [??] "thank you! now go sit down and do your morning work."
5) "hey, hey, hey, hey mrs. hopper, hey mrs. hopper."
"yes?"
"hey, i was thinking we could sing this song when we pass back the papers. like this, pass back the papers pack bass the pa...whoops. you know, like that."
"okay, cool did you sing that in kindergarten? or did you make it up?"
"i made it up."
"that's what i thought! okay i'll think about it!"
"okay." starts to leave then... "hey, hey, high five!"
and i gave him a high five. this is my seriously, seriously i'm serious! boy.
6) we were testing and i walk by my boy that thinks i'm hot [he is hilarious by the way and is a little jumpy] and i hear this crinkling noise. i notice he is touching his shirt. and he shirt is making a crinkling noise? like crumbled paper? so i say, "what's under your shirt?" he lifts it up and reveals his little kids scholastic news all folded up. "bud, you were supposed to put that in your cubby." "oh whoops! i forgot!"
then, i am testing him in a small group the other day and he uses these counter cubes to help him solve the problem. after he marks his answer he pats the cubes and mutters, "thank you counters."
okay i am sorry that was so long. my kids are just so funny right now. i'm going to miss them...well, almost all of them [is that bad??]
