happy mother's day!

i read my kids at school one of my favorite books, "quick as a cricket" by audrey and don wood. my mom used to read it to my sisters and i all the time. my kids then wrote poems for their mothers in a "quick as a cricket" way.  here are some of the sweet similes they used. so precious.
she is as beautiful as a sunset.
she is as fun as a waterpark.
she is as nice as a horse.
she is as lovable as a puppy.
she is as funny as a klaon.
[clown--somebody didn't look at the board!]
she is as caring as a kitten.

and the ending to all:
she loves me.
i love her with all my heart.

there were so many cute ones.  these mothers are going to cry when they see these. i did, and they weren't to me or from my "real" children.

***
more importantly,
to our own sweet mothers and mother-in-laws:
we love you and are so grateful for the wonderful lives you lead, the service you give, the love you share, and the lives you bless, especially our own.

"There is no greater good in all the world than motherhood." --James E. Faust

"Motherhood is the noblest office or calling in the world." -- David O. McKay

and my dear grandmothers. we love you!
and we love our hopper side grandmothers
[they were unable to attend our wedding in newport beach.]
