here are some photos i took this week with my iphone.

tutoring. this little girl is so dang cute. i would tell her a letter and then she would write it.

made this goodness for our faculty social. there were tons of chips and salsa and treats, and then there was this. hello health.

my classroom has been a serious mess since i got back monday. this week was a whirlwind, and obviously that whirlwind turned into a tornado that hit my desk.

i spent an hour after school cleaning and organizing. ta da!

 you know the book "if you give a mouse a cookie"? and all the others like "if you give a pig a pancake" and "if you give a moose a muffin".  well, i love them. and so do the kids. they're funny.  anyway, they are fabulous for teaching cause and effect and sequencing events.

since other first grade teachers have fabulous ideas and put them on blogs, i was able to do this fun activity. we read, sequenced, and then each kid drew a piece and we made a movie/film reel to put on the wall. we are also working on a writing activity "if you take me to the movies..." they are so cute.  we're putting our finishing [artistic] touches on them on monday. just you wait--so cute.

we read the famous dr. seuss story "how the grinch stole christmas". they loved it. we put up a grinch and when the kids do good deeds and are kind [aka bucket fillers--making people feel good, that's our school theme this year], then they get to write their name on a heart and glue it on the grinch.

also, next week is mr. grinch week.  i've got a gazillion grinch-y activities for us to do: writing, adjectives, math, etc. then the week after that is gingerbread week and i have a million activities for that, too!

 we made these cute little fact family presents. [for those of you who are unaware of what a fact family is (i was before i started teaching, simply because i was never taught it and just never thought about it, but it is really quite simple) a fact family is this: 3 6 9, 3+6=9, 6+3=9, 9-6=3, 9-3=6.  4 number sentences, 3 numbers. cool]

they love them and they go PERFECT by our christmas tree.  also, underneath our christmas tree, each kid wrapped up one of their favorite christmas books and we've been unwrapping 1 or 2 a day to read to the class. perfect. read alouds are so necessary and so my love. i totally get into our read alouds. like, right now we're reading peter pan and i do an english accent for wendy. and when we read charlotte's web, i used a high pitched super sweet womanly voice for charlotte. sometimes i read with southern accents, but their favorite is my "british" accent.

okay. can you tell my boo is GONE!?  i just talk [rather, type...] like a MAD woman.
