this first is a memory in the spirit of the summer olympics. summer olympics: atlanta 1996. back in the day, we had a swing set complete with monkey bars and even a bar with two rings hanging off that we could switch out with one of the swings. just close your eyes and picture that. now turn on "we're the kids in america...whoa oh" and picture 4 little girls flipping around the backyard blasting that song and winning all sorts of gold medals. erin was dominique moceanu and i was keri strug, but wanted to be dominique dawes...i just didn't look enough like her {nor did i have extremely short hair like keri strug, but we had to go with the closest thing so strug it was}. it was pretty much awesome. and now that we're in london twenty twelve, i'm doing round offs down the hall and pretending i'm vaulting. and i choose that cute little gabby douglass. i know i look nothing like her, but i'm still bitter that i couldn't be dominique dawes. {this is me sticking it to the man...or erin, who is not a man.}
the real olympic star herself. dana could've been in beijing, but she quite 12 years too soon.
this was in middle school. beginning of my forever long awkward stage. i think i'm still going through it.
backyard pool time. that's our friend christina. i think we were at the river, judging by the life vests on the grass and the plastic pool.
dance recital? i don't know but i am m.i.a. not cool.
proof that i've always been years ahead of the fashion world. not just with the colored jeans, but the shoes that are eating my feet. {which now, come in the form of super cute 5 inch wedges. i love them.}
stay tuned. more photos of my awkward stage to come.
