my conversation with a 7 year old

you guys love me, i know. actually, you probably just love the bizarre things i hear and see at school.

my sweet crazy boy is going to be gone for a whole week. while this will make things quieter and slightly more manageable in our classroom...wait. who am i kidding? he's 1 of like 10 kids with bursting energy.  anyway, kids were finishing up their math and i saw him walk outside [our door was open to let in the 80 degree sunshine goodness!!]. and i walk out there to get him and he is standing outside the door and i said, "what are you doing out here?" to which he replied, "i'm just biting my arm."  well. he was. so i told him to come inside.

later on...same boy had to miss part of pe to finish something.  he's been singing that song, "we are young. set the world on fi-i-ire..." you know it. and if you don't, that's okay. just know he was singing it all day and even called over to our principal in the lunch room to sing it to her. so he's singing it and then he says,

"do you know that song, 'I'm sexy and I know it'?"
"eah of course, it's like my theme song.  it comes on whenever i walk in the room or anything. duh, why are you asking?"  okay, really i just said, "yes i do."
"well, i made up my own. [we'll say his name is billy].  i'm *billy and i know it."
"that's so cool."

then he says...

"A lot of people call me cutie pie, but i don't like it.  i'm not cute! [yes you are.  stinking adorable.] i grew up from that! they need to start calling me something that starts with a J, like Jordan...Jack..."

and then he finished and left. but not before flashing his alien hands [you know, pink and ring finger stuck together and pointer and middle fingers stuck together with thumb extended. yeah.] and saying "I COME IN PEACE."

I DIED. this kid is too much. too much funny. too much crazy.  too much talking.  too much flipping off his chair and rolling around. too much.  but i am so going to miss this little guy in my class next year!
