photos from my iPhone VIII

school, steven, and what we've been eating.

groundhog day.  we learned about groundhogs, their burrows, and made these cute little groundhogs with burrows and a poem.  adapted from here.

we learned about cause and effect with david shannon's book "a bad case of stripes." adapted from here.

we started our new personal narratives writing unit yesterday, "When I was sick..."  [also adapted from here. blogs just have too many good ideas!!]this was my saturday night doing while watching the byu men's basketball game with steven. nothing like making charts on a saturday night!

after brainstorming yesterday, we wrote our drafts today on this little draft page I made up real quick. this girl was sick with diarrhea.  she even raised her hand and said it for our brainstorm chart yesterday. there were some giggles, but i just played it off like, "people get diarrhea when they're sick sometimes!  some people throw up, some people get diarrhea, and some get both!" then we had lots of kids that agreed. fibbers.

first grade joys.  break my $50 pencil sharpener that doesn't work that well in the first place.  oh wait, it's not the pencil sharpener.  it's the crappy pencils the school/district buys with unbalanced pencil lead in the middle, or not middle. don't worry.  after guilt tripping the class, i had a little boy that came up and confessed after class.  so precious. how could you be upset?

found this last thursday after coming home from a long day. "hope that you don't mind."  seriously? like i would ever mind someone taking all the trash out in the house, doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and making the bed (that i can't make when i wake up at 5 am because someone is still sleeping. i don't blame him. i would be too if i weren't a crazy gym-er. [not jimmer].)

homemade butternut squash pizza crust. adapted from here. i didn't have coconut flour, so i just used all brown rice flour.  eh, it was alright--too much brown rice flour. i wish i did half and half or 1:3 like it called for, and used some other sort of flour (other than wheat), but all i had was wheat, white, and brown rice. although, i could've ground up my quinoa to make a flour. oh well.  i'll work on it and perfect it.

steven made a wheat pizza crust (not 100% whole wheat, but like 75%).  there were left overs from sunday, so i made him a personal pizza for dinner last night. i don't remember what i ate for dinner.

close up. yeah.

steven's breakfast the other morning. orange zested cinnamon french toast.

other updates (1): i think we are going to california this weekend to see mi familia and steven's will be there for disneyland, so it's like a win-win! both families in one trip! so excited. love them both.
(2): my class is doing better. i still come home exhausted.
(3): time to finish my consonant clusters powerpoint and make a math powerpoint. love it.
