today [or yesterday? i'm in california, so it's still today, but in utah it's already saturday.] was a great day. i'm kind of way super busy with school/work right now. plus some other stresses, so life is crazy. i wake up at 5 am for the gym, leave for school around 7.30 am and get home from tutoring around 7.15 pm, only leaving me a couple of hours to make and eat dinner, get all of my planning/lessons prepped for the next day, and skype with my boo [yes, that's ghetto code for steven].
but. i couldn't be happier. well i could, if i didn't have to wait 26 more days + 3 weeks + 2 weeks.
anyway. my sweet and crazy and fun little first graders keep me going! here are some funny things i heard the last couple of days.
{one}
fridays i eat lunch with one table. today, one of my spunky twin girls was saying something and i said, "well good thing you're alive!" to which my hypochondriac {that ends up hurt with a bag of ice after recess/lunch 4/5 days a week} said slowly, "i almost died once."
"oh no! how?"
"i came out of my mom feet first."
"that's not good."
"yeah, i came running out."
I DIED!!!! that's probably what his parents say, but here's this little 7 year old boy telling me he came running out of the womb. i don't know what's better, that or my boy from last year saying he was made in a petri dish and not to have an "nvtro" baby [in vitro].

sometimes emily just pops by my classroom. well, she hadn't yet this year until wednesday. she walked into the back and my kids were working on their math. i interrupted and said, "does anyone know this weird girl that just walked in!?"
one kid said, "your mom!"
"no!!! she's not my mom!"
"your friend."
"yeah, she's my friend but that's not it!"
"um, um, a weird girl?"
ah, haha. yes. good listening bud.
"no! she's not really a weird girl."
"your sister!"
"yes, she's my sister!"
they are so funny.

alright, so if you've been keeping up with the hopper fam / pretty much just me, then you know someone in my class has a little crush on me. [see here and here] well, now he has some competition! today we had our walk/jog-a-thon. it was great. those kids walked/jogged their little hearts out. i had so much fun encouraging them and cheering for them each lap.
so afterward we were pretty pooped. it was a hot morning. i put in a little movie and let them lay on the carpet and gave them some goldfish. even though we had just had a bathroom break, i still had like 6 kids ask to go. sure, it's just a movie so i didn't really care. then kids were asking for more goldfish. so i made an announcement. no more goldfish. then this little boy gets up. [not the one that is sweet and crazy, and not the one that thinks i'm pretty and "hot", but my other little boy that LOVES school and never wants to go home at the end of the day. love.] he says,
"you look really good today!"
"thanks bud! k go sit down."
then, later on, "you just look so good today!"
and later on when his table was eating lunch with me, "no seriously, you look so good today!"
he told me at least 5 times. and after i told my kiddos i was flying to california he came up to me during clean up and said,
"i don't want you to go!"
"but i'll be back sunday, so you'll see me monday just like a normal weekend!"
"but you look so good! i don't want you to go!"
how stinkin' cute?! i think that's a definite 2 crushes there. plus, i'm pretty sure my sweet, crazy boy is crushin' on me, too. that, and the girl that's a head taller than him. first love affair in the class!

one of my twins was getting a lap checked off on her card during the walk-a-thon and says, "look at that little boy! he's so cute!" pointing to a little kindergartner. he was darling.
next lap she says, "his name is nicholas!"
later on during the day she says, "aww, wasn't that little boy just so cute!"
pretty much, school is just so fun. i get hugs all the time. i laugh a ton because of the funny things they say, and we get to play a lot of games. and we make shape out of pretzel sticks and marshmallows. it's awesome.
and tomorrow/today is claire's wedding. so happy for her. how perfect is that? me, erin, katie, claire and a few other good friends of mine all got married this year, within months of each other.
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
and 26 days until i see steven in person [vs. skype] in washington d.c.!!!!
