you silly thing, you. sometimes you are crazy. and sometimes you are the sweetest. 99.9% of the time, you are the sweetest. you are the most rewarding thing in any situation, hands down.
my sweet kenley woke up from her nap when she wasn't really ready to. thank you, poop. i could tell by the cry instead of happy calling "a-meeee! a-meeeee!" and then the smell when i walked in the room. waa waa.
so the next hour consisted of me trying to shower (i know, it was like three o'clock), trying to find a snack kenley wanted to eat (winner: cuties, duh), and trying to keep her happy and distracted, because lamb was getting a bath (so, lots of tears and knocking on the laundry closet door. so sad).
we ran a few errands. we shared a juice at whole foods. we came home, got lamb out of the dryer and played the "what are you going to eat for dinner tonight?" game, which is a bit difficult these days. kenley loves helping me make smoothies in the morning. while helping me make her dinner smoothie (different from the morning smoothie), she kept putting in the zucchini ends that i had cut off for my dinner. then i gave her half a banana to put in, but she just ate it instead. and then she wanted to play with her toys, so that was that.
we watched some videos of cousin finn that uncle mike has made while she drank her smoothie. she loves videos of finn, puppies, and herself (duh!). and i started getting a little teary watching baby finn, especially when there were baby kenley cameos. how was she ever that tiny?
bath then bed time. we pointed to our noses, eyes, hair, mouths, ears, and got stuck on that tongue just sticking out. we read some books and didn't want to snuggle. we said a prayer, said good night to Jesus and blew him a kiss, and i laid kenley in her crib. she promptly stood up, and was stomping her feet really fast and laughing so hard. i laid her down again, said good night, gave her a kiss and walked out the door. the inevitable happy chatter came from the crib. twenty minutes later, it was still coming (which is totally normal). "ma-me" (which is lamby, so short a like hat, and mommy is mommy) "ma-me, ma-me, ma-me".
i just wanted to snuggle that girl, so i went back in there. i died when i saw her. lying horizontally in her crib with her two little feet sticking through the slats. all her animals on the floor, except her lamb and blankey that she was snuggling while lying on her back saying "ma-me, ma-me." i picked her up and to my surprise, she just snuggled on my shoulder. we rocked for a good twenty minutes. she curled up her legs into a ball on my chest. my mother heart was bursting. i so wish steven was there to enjoy it with me (although, this girl will snuggle with him before she snuggles with me any day!). i want to remember these little moments forever. save them and bottle them up for a rainy day.
this is motherhood. it's kind of crazy and hectic sometimes, and hey, i know, i only have one kid and i know it will only get crazier and more hectic, you don't need to tell me that (people tell me enough. gotta love the unsolicited "advice"). but it is all so, so worth it.
